The Messerschmitt BF-109 first flew in 1935 and had become the standard Luftwaffe fighter by the time of the Battle of Britain. It featured a 20mm cannon firing through the prop spinner, two 20mm cannon in the wings, and two machine guns above the engine. The W3 Group model variation (with gun pods) shows this armament.
This Reflex model was developed with the assistance of Burkhard Erdlenbruch who extensively researched the full-scale aircraft in Germany. The W3 Group BF-109G is modeled on the physical and flight characteristics of the real full-scale aircraft.
